My Best Day

Up to now, my best day is that my families went to the Disney Land in Hong Kong on winter vacation eight years ago. At that time, my father had worked in China for many years, and my mother took us to China to meet my father on every winter vacation. On winter vacation eight years ago, my father planned to take my family members to the Disney Land in Hong Kong to stay one night. That was my first time to Hong Kong, therefore, I was extremely excited about looking forward to that day’s coming. The first day, all my siblings played a variety of facilities, ate a number of delicious foods and snacks, and bought various souvenirs and presents given to my cousins. The final day, we played facilities again, took much more photos than the first day, and so on. We made use of time to do many activities in order to make a good memory. At that time, I didn’t have any pressure, anxiety, or anything else, since I was a student in elementary school. In contrast, I have a lot of assignments, many things to do, lots of worry and stress every day at the moment. I am under a lot of pressure, as I have to worry about my future, my studies, and my work. Photos in Hong Kong remind me of the happy days during my stay in Disney Land of Hong Knog.

Where would you travel?

        Everyone all has a dream, and so do I. I dream of travelling around the world by myself, staying at other countries for a long time, and experiencing many cultures from one city to another. At the moment, I have never gone to travel around a country by myself; however, I have already planned that I am ready to depart when I will finish studies.

        The first destination is Europe, and I will arrive in London, the capital of Great Britain because I enjoy its weather, foods, cultures, buildings, and so on. I like photographing, so I will definitely take a lot of photographs, buy postcards to send to my family in Taiwan, and tell them how beautiful London is. I really love countryside instead of a city, so I will take more time to stay at countryside than at a city. By the way, at night, I will choose to go couch-surfing, which means that you stay at a stranger’s home, use his or her bed or couch to sleep so that you can save much money. Later, I will take the TGV to Paris, the capital of France.

        The second destination is Paris. I can speak French a little, and I extremely adore its cultures, scenery, museums, food, chocolate, etc. I feel like talking with people in France in French, exchange information with backpackers from all over the world, share my experience I had one another. I don’t like to go to tourist attractions. After France, I will probably go to Italy, Spain, Suisse, or anywhere I want to go.

Dieting

Over the years, statements like “eat less to lose weight” have been passed around as good advice. But in fact, is such fitness strategy really effective? To me, the answer to this question is definitely false. For instance, I started to diet in order to lose weight. I only focused on the amount of food I consume each meal. I thought blindly that “the less I eat, the slimmer I look”. But actually, I lost the water of my body instead of burning off my fat. In addition, I couldn’t last a long time to eat less, so I dined much more food than before. It caused that my weight increased much. Now, I am tired of losing weight; I only want to get some workout regularly and eat healthily to maintain my healthy body.

Solar

• advantages

1. Solar panels catch energy directly from the sun and convert it into electricity.

2. Solar energy produces no emissions.

3. Solar enables people to generate their own energy where they live: people can have their own solar panels, with batteries for calm days.

• disadvantages

1. The cost of the panels is still very high.

2. Clouds and darkness also cause solar panels to produce less energy, which requires one to have additional power sources (such as batteries) available.

My mother

When it comes to my mother, I have no choice but to say she is such a great, courageous, and even an independent woman in my mind. My mother had to bring up four children by herself-including my older brother, my older sister, my younger brother, and me-because my father was sent to China to work when I was a child. Every day she woke us up, cooked meals, did a great deal of housework, and took us to many fun places by car on weekends. Most of all, she took good care of us. As we took a plane to China to meet my father during Chinese New Year, she had to deal with a number of problems, such as plane tickets, transportation etc.

Being out of work, my father came back to Taiwan. My mother had to look for a job in order to pay for our tuition. She didn’t receive high education, so she works as a person cleaning apartments or housing. Now my father works; so does my mother. Both of them really work hard. I thank them so much for raising me. I will love them for all eternity.

Father and Mother

My father, Jason, and my mother, Susan, have different responsibility but play important roles in a family. First of all, Father and Mother should take good care of children. My father must earn much money in order to raise children, and my mother is a housewife so that she takes care of children with all her heart. A last similarity between Father and Mother is that it is for the sake of children. Father and Mother blame us to teach correct concepts. Maybe they have a different name- “Father” and “Mother” but both them are important to children.

Just a Dream

Let me tell you a story. It’s about just a dream.

        Her name is Nina, and she is a twenty-year-old undergraduate. Nina has a happy family. When she was born, Nina’s parents were looking forward to taking good care of her because Nina’s parents have not had any children for ten years. Nina is their only child; therefore, her parents always give her a lot of love and give what she wants. So, how lucky Nina is. But……

她的名字叫做妮娜，她現在是個二十歲的大學生且妮娜有個幸福的家庭。因為妮娜的父母親已經十年了都沒有任何小孩，所以當妮娜出生時，她的父母親很期待能照顧她。妮娜是個獨生女，因此，她的父母親總是給她很多很多愛及任何她所想要的事物。所以，妮娜是多麼幸運呢! 但是……

        Until Nina was nineteen years old, she had lived peacefully and happily. But, unfortunately, her parents were dead because of a car accident when Nina was nineteen years old. Suddenly, Nina has no mother, no father and no siblings (she is the only child), and she is both sad and lonely every day. Later, Susan, her father’s older sister, Nina’s aunt, invited Nina to live in the countryside with her and her family. There are four members in Susan’s family, including John, Susan’s son, Jessica, Susan’s daughter, Bob, Susan’s husband and Susan. Susan is an active, friendly, passionate mother, and Bob is a serious but gentle father. Susan and Bob always look upon Nina as their own child. And John, a twenty-two-year-old man, finished a degree in Business Studies in Eindhoven one year ago. His dream of becoming successful business person will come true because he always work hard. The final of members, Jessica, she is a really beautiful high school girl, but she is stingy and actually she doesn’t like Nina at all since she have to share one bedroom, one desk, one computer, one closet, and even her own clothes. Although Susan treats Nina generously, Nina feels lonely and thinks that she herself is a stranger in Susan’s family. Thus, Nina is as lonely as she used to be.

直到妮娜十九歲時，她都過著幸福和樂的生活。但是，令人遺憾地是，當妮娜十九歲時，她的父母親因為一場車禍而死亡。突然間，妮娜沒有爸爸、媽媽及任何兄弟姊妹(因為她是獨生女)，每一天，她既傷心又寂寞。之後，妮娜的父親的姊姊，妮娜的姑姑，蘇珊，邀請妮娜來鄉下和她的家人一起居住。在蘇珊的家中有四名成員: 約翰(蘇珊的兒子)、潔西卡(蘇珊的女兒)、鮑伯(蘇珊的丈夫)還有蘇珊。蘇珊是一個又活潑又友善又熱情的媽媽而鮑伯是個嚴肅卻溫和慈祥的爸爸。蘇珊及鮑伯一直把妮娜當作自己的女兒。而約翰，一個二十二歲的男人，一年前剛完成商學的學位在愛因荷華，他想成為一位成功的商人的夢想將要實現了，因為他一直以來都相當努力認真。蘇珊家中最後成員，潔西卡，她是一個極漂亮的高中女孩，但是她很吝嗇小氣，事實上，她一點兒都不喜歡妮娜因為她必須和妮娜共用一間房間、一張書桌、一台電腦、一個衣櫃及甚至是自己的衣服。雖然蘇珊慷慨地對待妮娜，妮娜卻感到寂寞甚至認為自己在蘇珊家中是個陌生人，因此，妮娜跟以往一樣很寂寞。
